Joining the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham


The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham is a branch of the Roman Catholic Church with groups forming comprised of ex Anglican Clergy and laity in England Scotland and Wales.

Members are received into full communion with the Holy see after appropriate preparation and worship at local Catholic parishes with their group and clergy.


Our Ordinary needs no introduction: The Right Reverend Monsignor Keith Newton is our Shepherd and friend and acts vicariously on behalf of our Bishop, Pope Benedict XVI. This is the Holy Father's initiative and we are a group of Catholic Christians so very privileged to have been among the first wave of parishes to settle into Catholic life!

Fathers Jeff Woolnough & Bob White continue to serve our people with passion and zeal! Fr Jeff is also Priest in Charge of St Peter's RC Church Eastwood where we often meet. Our base at St Pius X Hockley is now our home and we give continued thanks to the Parish Priest, Fr Gerry Drummond for his hospitality! Do pay us a visit.

Sunday Mass times:

St Pius X Hockley 10.30am except first Sunday of month when we join the parish of St Peter's Eastwood at 10am for the Family Mass.

Welcome to all of the faithful in the Southend Area contemplating joining the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham

Fr Keith Newton , our former Bishop and now Ordinary of The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in England & Wales , is along with The Rt Rev Thomas McMahon, Bishop of Brentwood, very excited about the prospect of our shared mission to proclaim the faith once delivered to the Saints  to the people of Essex as part of the Ordinariate! Our Ordinariate group is a lively mix of explorers from churches in the Southend area, Hockley and South Benfleet... it's not a secret!!! I'm expecting Paul & Warick, (Spurs fans), so I need to balance things by asking for some Hammers fans to balance the volume in the Vicarage living room?  C'mon you Irons!
