Sung Angelus after the 11 am Solemn Mass at St John Fisher Sunday 6 September
Dear friends,
Our first Sunday celebration of
Mass together as the newly formed
Southend Ordinariate Mission was, I ‘m sure you’ll agree, a wonderful and
pivotal moment in our journey of full communion into the life of the Catholic
Church!
I was incredibly moved as the organ
struck up the opening verse of the introit hymn and felt a great sense of
privilege and thanksgiving as I censed the Altar.
The refreshments after mass enabled
us to chat and to renew old friendships and also welcome newcomers. All in all
we should be glad to call St John Fisher Church ‘our spiritual home.’
Please make every effort to attend
each week and the weekday masses, too if we are to make a success of our
mission? Plans for a Sunday School will soon be underway and a new pastoral
council formed to meet and to contribute to the life of the Ordinariate in this
place. From a financial point of view we are in a healthy state! At the
beginning of October the September giving will be published in the newsletter.
At present please continue to put your offerings in the envelopes that you have
always used until the bank account is consolidated ( both groups under one
account). On behalf of our Ordinary and the Mission Pastors, thank you for your
outstanding generosity!
Fr. Lee and Helen are busy settling
in to the Presbytery at Southchurch, (aka, Cardboard box city ), and need time
to get things straight so please, any questions or issues relating to the
Mission, matters arising etc, direct to me.
God bless you all,
Fr Jeff.
