VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Here are a few of the main features of Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation, "Evangelii Gaudium" ("The Joy of the Gospel"), which was released Nov. 26 at the Vatican:

-- With a mix of conversational style and formal papal magisterial language, Pope Francis sets forth a vision for giving the entire church, at every level, a missionary thrust; he anticipates some objections and confusion, but asks everyone to give it a try.

-- He calls for renewal and rethinking the way every person and every institution -- from the pope and the Roman Curia down to the parish and its parishioners -- live their faith and focus their energies.

Pope Francis modifies the Complmentary Norms...

Image
From The Ordinariate Website:

LATEST NEWS FROM THE ORDINARIATEPope Francis puts evangelisation at heart of OrdinariateTuesday, July 09, 2013 Pope Francis has approved a significant amendment to the Complementary Norms which govern the life of the Personal Ordinariates established under the auspices of Anglicanorum Coetibus. On 31 May 2013, the Holy Father made a modification to Article 5 of the Norms, in order to make clear the contribution of the Personal Ordinariates in the work of the New Evangelisation. This paragraph has been inserted into the Complementary Norms as Article 5 §2: A person who has been baptised in the Catholic Church but who has not completed the Sacraments of Initiation, and subsequently returns to the faith and practice of the Church as a result of the evangelising mission of the Ordinariate, may be admitted to membership in the Ordinariate and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation or the Sacrament of the Eucharist or both. Walsingham Annual Ordinariate Pilgrimage 22 June

Image
Thanks to our own Monsignor Edwin Barnes   -  From his site Ancient Richborough a report on the Bournmouth Group's stay at Walsingham last weekend:Thenne longen folk to go on pilgrimage... Not Aprille, as in Chaucer's Tales, though the weather was showery and springlike when the Ordinariate went home to Walsingham for our summer Pilgrimage. From the Bournemouth Mission we were more than thirty, including a number of Catholics from local parishes and an Anglican or two. Emphasising our ecumenical (not to say evangelistic) role, we were mostly lodged at the Anglican shrine. It looks very romantic by moonlight, hence the first picture in today's blog. We had travelled the 200 plus miles by coach on Saturday, so we were ready for anything on Saturday morning. The interior of the Catholic church of Reconciliation is lit by very orange lamps, so I gave up on trying to photograph it either before or during Mass. We celebrated SS John Fisher and Thomas More, two of the first and g…

Solemnity of the Nativity of St John the Baptist.

Image
What a great day!  Solemn Mass this morning at St Peter's followed by Adoration until Noon. The Privilege of presiding at a Funeral and then a wonderful Mass for the Staff at St Thomas More High at Westcliff. The message today is clear: we need to listen to the voice of the Baptist and take on his mantra as we prepare for the Second Coming of Christ.
